Day 2 – 10 things you love in lolita.

So, this wasn't as easy as it seemed, but here's a list of my fave things about lolita.

1. Details. What fascinates me in this fashion is great attention to details, both in cut designs and prints.

2. Elegance. I've always been a rather serious person with a taste for retro, so the elegance of classic lolita is very appealing to me.

3. Cuteness. I was a tomboy as far as I remember, but lolita caught my eye in my late teens, when I began to  get into more girly stuff. And the cuteness still cheers me up!

4. The fact that it's a very unusual style. I love expressing myself in different ways and lolita became a way to express some of my also unusual tastes.

5. How much inspiration it gives. I love pretty stuff and lolita is very inspiring, with it's details, contrasts and various motifs.

6. Target audience. I don't know, does the fashion affect what I make, or I make it because of the audience, but I'm not so good with mainstream fashion or abstract jewelry, as I am with subcultural stuff.

7. Themes. I just get thrilled over the art that's used in lolita clothes - mainstream clothes start looking boring.

8. Variety. It can be dark, cute, sweet, elegant, punk - that's some choice within one subculture.

9. Aesthetics. I guess this sums all of the above, but I'm running out of ideas.

10. Cake! (I said I'm running out of ideas).

It Was Fine While It Lasted

As much as I was excited to try and move to Artfire as my main base of action, they disappointed me big time - over the months I only had one sale of of them and now, since they discontinued basic accounts, I don't see the point of staying. Plus, Etsy copied their one-page-listing system, so there isn't a difference now, except for the fact that on Etsy I get more publicity.

Well, that gives me more time to manage my Facebook Kiosk and other venues, so it won't be missed that much. Anywho, I've finally put up my newest creations up for sale - pretty soon I'll upgrade the series with ufo and rocket rings too. I've also added stud earrings and a star'n'pearl bracelet to the current line.

Fun-Kei Space is here!

Yay, finally! The biggest part of my newest series is ready! Since I made my Fun-kei Stars, I had these designs in my sketchbook, so, here they are in all their glittery glory.

Wishing Star necklaces - a little bandwagon too good to miss, but with my own personal twist. They are 57 cm long and are very sparkly and cute.

Set course to places no lolita has been in this awesome rocket! These necklaces are extra glittery and fun - they will feature a chain with an extra star bead and will be 77 cm long.

Welcome the most cute and friendly invaders! This is also a long, 77 cm with a trail of stars to follow these pastel spaceships.

There will be more items coming in this series, such as star bracelets and bow 2-way clips, but I was too excited to show these, that I couldn't wait another day! All the items will be made in any chosen pastel colors for perfect personal fit.

Day 1 - 10 Things About My Lolita Bubble.

So, let the games begin!

1. My favorite style is classic. I love how elegant, romantic and feminine it looks. It's toned down and great for special occasions!

2. That being said, I can hardly make myself wear lolita more daily - I work at home and don't go out much, so I don't have much motivation to spend much time getting ready. And when I hang out with friends in the city we usually spend a lot of time walking, so lolita shoes aren't the best option.

3. Though I don't wear it too often, it doesn't stop me from occasionally buying something new, though I don't go much after the new releases. But I'm on a constant look out for second hand items - 2 of my dream items I got for a real bargain. Surprisingly, they were from Angelic Pretty, from the time they weren't the rainbow-explosion brand.
One of the items, but I got it in the bluexblue colorway.

4.  I treat the style more like a philosophy, than fashion or a lifestyle. Dunno how this turned out, but it seemed a balanced position between "it's just clothes" and "lolita lifestyle". Keeping one's mind and actions in bringing something beautiful into the world, so the lolita aesthetic seems quite fitting.

5. I really want to start making garments for sale and actually have sketched out some prints and silkscreen designs. The biggest problem, though, is the fact that I live in Russia and shipping fees from printing services will put extra cost into the materials, so I'm not sure if people would be interested, seeing as most aren't interested even in local indie designer prices, that aren't all THAT expensive for handmade.

6. I prefer to wear tights, rather than knee or thigh-high socks. Most of my lolita clothes are for the cooler seasons anyway, since in summer many layers just don't work for me.

7. I have almost all of the GLB issues, several Gosu Rori and other fashion mooks, though I haven't bought new ones in a while, since I had a decline of interest in the style. But I'll probably catch up some time in the future.

8.  I don't have any specifically lolita purses, but I really like my Baby tote I got in a luckypack. It's casual and let's me have a "bit of style" anywhere I go.

9. I really want to make some nerdy, Tolkien-inspired lolita outfits - I think that elf motives and illustrations would work great in an AATP style garment.

10. Lolita helped me through the most tough moment of my life. If I hadn't anything positive and vain enough like fashion to set my mind on, something like designing to concentrate on, I  wouldn't hold on as well as I did.

AfterCon Zen Relaxation

Phew!  Last weekend I've been attending an anime con, cosplaying both days, which means the past several weeks were one heck of a race of sewing, crafting and rehearsals. Can't say the con worked out as I planned, but I'm definitely proud of how my costumes turned out.

Tera Online, Castanic Sorcerer. Got First Prize in single anime/game category.

Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame, Esmeralda. Maybe I didn't dances as good,as I wished, but it's one of those cosplays I'm really proud of.

Right now I'm having some quiet time, catching up on orders (I also didn't have any Internet for a week!) and my job - normal live is so serene in comparison! This also means that I'm back to make new awesome jewelry - and very soon you'll see a very cute new collection!
